Basic Sewing Skills

Come get familiar with your machine while learning basic sewing skills, and take home little projects in the end. This class consists of five two-hour classes that span over five weeks. Each class we will cover new skills and topics with lots of practice. Some of the topics covered are zippers, types of seams, terminology and more! Note the date changes, this class will start in September.

Beginner Quilting

Our Beginner Quilt classes start again in September. We have two sessions this fall. Learn all the basics of making a quilt in this 4 week class. You will make a small lap quilt while learning the best ways to cut, sew, sandwich and bind your quilt. Lots of tips and hints for successful quilt making are provided in each class. Each class is 3 hours long and you go home with a finished quilt at the end of the 4 weeks. Come in to the store to register, get your supplies and pick your fabric. This class will be run twice, once in September and once in October.

Session 1 Dates: Wednesdays, September 4, 11, 18, 25 (class full)

Session 2 Dates: Wednesdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23

Class Policies

Please ensure you read carefully prior to registering for classes

  • Payment must be made in full to guarantee your place in a class. Please call the store to register with your Visa or Mastercard.
  • Your phone number and email address are required at the time of registration so that we may contact you regarding your class. Registration must be cancelled 4 business days before the start of the class. No refunds or store credits are offered if you are unable to attend a class.
  • If minimum enrollment (4) is not met 2 days prior to the class date, we reserve the right to cancel the class. If the class is cancelled, a refund or a store credit will be offered.
  • For classes with multiple sessions, if you miss a session, it is your responsibility to make up the course work for the missed date. The instructor is not required to make up a class for you if you miss a session. It is up to their discretion to help you catch up.
  • You are responsible for checking the supply list and bringing all necessary supplies. If you do not have a supply list 7 days before class, please call the store. Please label all of your supplies.
  • We appreciate if your supplies are purchased from Lethbridge Sewing Centre. All students registered in our classes receive 10% off supplies for the class. Due to copyright laws, students are each required to have the pattern or book if applicable.
  • If there is pre-cutting required, please ensure it is done before the start of class.
  • Your machine must be in good working order, and you must know how to use it. (Except in the case of Getting to Know your Machine classes) Bring your manual, if available.
  • Our classroom is a scent-free zone. Please refrain from using perfume, cologne or other fragrances for the comfort of other participants.
  • Teens 16 years and older are welcome in our adult classes. Children, infants or guests are not permitted with you in class.
  • Please have your cell phone turned to silent during your class. If you must take a call, please be courteous and leave the classroom.
